How to convert PNG to JPG

  1. Choose your files. Add PNG images. You can select up to 20 files per batch, within the displayed size limits.
  2. Set the result. JPG is already selected. Adjust dimensions and, for JPG, WebP or AVIF, quality. Check the transparency background where available.
  3. Convert and download. Download each result or the batch ZIP. Compare file size and appearance before replacing any original.

JPG output: Compact photos. Transparent areas are filled with the selected background.

When a JPG beats your PNG

Upload forms, job portals and older systems often accept only JPG. JPG is also the better home for photographic content: a photo saved as PNG is usually much larger than it needs to be, and converting it to JPG typically shrinks it substantially. Screenshots of photos, exported renders and scanned pictures fall into this group.

Keep PNG instead for crisp text, line art and screenshots of interfaces, where JPG compression can leave faint smudges around hard edges.

Transparent areas need a background

JPG has no alpha channel. Before converting, choose the Transparency background color; it starts as white. Transparent pixels are filled with that color, and soft semi-transparent edges blend into it. If a logo will appear on a dark page, pick a matching dark color so you do not end up with a white halo.

Picking quality for screenshots versus photos

For photos, quality 80 to 90 usually gives a good balance. For screenshots with small text, stay at 90 or above and zoom in on the result to check letter edges. If the output must fit under an upload limit, JPG supports a maximum size in KB: the tool lowers quality step by step until the file fits or the lower bound is reached. Metadata, such as embedded color profiles or text chunks, is not copied.

Converting PNG to JPG with Windows or Mac tools

In Windows Paint, open the PNG and choose File > Save as > JPEG picture; transparent areas are typically flattened to white. On a Mac, open the file in Preview, choose File > Export, set Format to JPEG and move the Quality slider. Finder's Quick Actions > Convert Image can also batch-convert selected PNGs to JPEG on recent macOS. Menu labels vary between versions.

How it works in ConvitAll

The PNG is decoded by your browser, painted onto your chosen background and encoded as JPG on your device. Add up to 20 PNG files and fetch each JPG individually or in a ZIP. No upload, no account and no watermark.

Questions and answers

What color will the transparent parts of my PNG become?

Whatever you choose under Transparency background, white by default. Pick the color of the page or document where the image will appear so the edges blend naturally. To keep real transparency, convert to WebP or keep the PNG.

Will PNG to JPG make my screenshot blurry?

At high quality the change is small, but JPG is designed for photos, so fine text and sharp lines can pick up faint artifacts. Use quality 90 or higher for screenshots, or stay with PNG when crisp text matters more than file size.

How much smaller will my JPG be than the PNG?

It depends on the content. Photographic PNGs often shrink to a fraction of their size. Flat screenshots and simple graphics may shrink only a little, and in some cases the JPG is not much smaller at all. Compare the sizes shown after converting.

Can I convert PNG to JPG under 200 KB?

Yes. Open the image compressor, keep JPG output and enter 200 as the maximum KB per image. The tool tries lower quality levels until the file fits. If it still does not, choose a smaller longest side such as 1,280 pixels and convert again.
